When i forget why

When I forget why

You write it in the sky

With the sun each morning    (Lam. 3:22-23)

You tell me you adore me

Ever faithful, you never waver

Each moment with you I savor

I know your heartbeat is all around

I see it in magnificent sights           (Ps. 104: 24 - 25)

And hear it in the most beautiful sounds   (Ps. 98:4-6)

But I know what lies outside that door

Doubt and pain, cloaked in lies once more     (John 10:10)

Lord, if I may, can I just touch your hems?      (Luke 8:43 - 48)

I know I’ve asked again and again

Forgive my doubting heart and questioning mind

Yet when my heart has to ask, you remain so kind

Tell me what I need for today

For tomorrow seems an eternity away      (Matt. 6:34)

The shadows in which I’ve sat

Seem to never end

I’ve been here so long

They’ve become an old friend

But here you faithfully remain with me

For it is in those shadows that you speak  (Job 12:22)

I need you to remind me what all this is for

Come meet me at the well; Let’s talk once more  (John 4)

When I forget why

I look to the sky

You hide a map in the stars

A map back to your heart

In the still of the night

Im reminded I don’t have to fight   (2 Chron. 20:17)

Because the battle is over and done

It is finished; You have won. (John 19:30)
